Wherein I defend my blatant plagiarism. I'm sorry Aidyn I just love so muuuuuuuuuuuuuch.

This comic is not my only online contribution to Aidyn Chronicles. I also made the game's soundtrack available, and while it's not the most illustrious album of music ever, there are some decent tracks in it and I'll be sharing them as they come up. So, for now, here's the title screen theme.

It's not plagiarism. It's only plagiarism when you claim it as your own. You're admitting that this is an adaptation of someone else's work and you're not making money off of it. It's only illegal when you sell copyrighted works of your own so you're clean :)

As for the game you're writing about, I've played tons of games that had great potential, but fell flat because of their bugs. Or worse yet, they were perfect, but slipped between the cracks because they weren't big names.

This game had the cards stacked against it right from the get-go. But maybe now its day has come! Just maybe...

If this series is even half as good as Spelunkying: The Colossal Cave then this will be amazing.
I know its on your Deviantart so people can find it but it would be cool if it was possible to add the original Spelunkying to this website as well. Or maybe link it in the remakes profile page.
Anyways I am looking forward so much to seeing what happens. I was thinking about trying to find a lets play of the game but I don't want spoilers.

The thing to keep in mind with this series is that my narrative contribution isn't as big this time around. Spelunky was a game with no actual story; this is a retelling of a more substantial tale. There are plenty of gaps between cutscenes for me to fill, but we'll have the AC Crew to thank for a lot of it.

Then again, I wouldn't be telling it if I didn't think it'd be worthwhile. I don't recommend any Let's Plays because the game's presentation is just that awful.

If I got the chance would you say it would be a good idea to pick up a copy and play it myself?

I don't know how rare it is, but a real copy might be hard to find. Even so, you'd need a controller pack to save your game, and there are lots of places where it can freeze, bug out, or crash and cost you progress. If you want to play it, you're best off with an emulator. Project 64 handles it well, and save states are a good safeguard against the glitches.

Otherwise, I'd say it depends on the kind of RPGs you enjoy. If you're at all familiar with Fire Emblem, it's like a 3D version of that. Combat is turn-based, character death is permanent, and your success depends more on your tactical choices than sheer grinding. Honestly, it's a pretty rough customer. There are detailed descriptions about how all the mechanics work, but it starts out very difficult.

Emulating it sounds like the best choice but I would still buy a physical copy first but that's just me. My cousin likes Fire Emblem a lot more than me so I think I might tell him about this.

As someone who's making a satire of my favorite video game series, i think you're taking your own liberties and not trying to hurting anyone. But that's my opinion.

Thanks! Yeah, this series is born from genuine passion for the game, so I won't take any credit where it isn't deserved.
